Ok, mods, gimme the smackdown if I'm asking too much.I once spent a couple months as a field service tech for a Mac only retailer, no names allowed. As we field techs serviced customer Macs, we frequently brought along an external CDROM drive and some Service Source CDs and System restore CDs, all of which included a lot of useful stuff on them. As I use Linux daily, I have come to appreciate that I can download a single file image (as per DiskCopy!) of a CDROM, in a format called .ISO. This format is readable by most CD burning software I've ever met. In fact, I can create an ISO image with common CD burning software under Winsnows, and also with standard system commands under Linux. No ideas (yet) about burning a CD in Mac land. Soon enought for that difficulty, though (as dunbar is posessing a Yamaha 4x4x16 SCSI burner). Sadly, I'll have to go astray with that burner, because I do not see anything for burning CDs with 68k Macs. That will be another thread, hold yer horses! My main question is this: has anyone any links to ISO files of the Service Source CDs??? Linux is my choice. Mac was my guide. M$ is not my friend. |

I know that you can get the Service Source manuals and other goodies quite easily, I've never seen an ISO though.~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0

I haven't seen images of older Service Source CD's around for a while. If you need a Service manual for a 68K series system, look up on the 68KMLA Hotline Server.Probably, if you need the Service Source CD in ISO format, you can make one messing around with a copy of the Mac format. ------------------ Captain Z - Mobile Operations Commander 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 23 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff |

Exactly what I was requesting. Seems to me like someone must have done this already. Maybe ISO format is not correct? Pick a format, any format which is readable by popular CD burning applications. Linux is my choice. Mac was my guide. M$ is not my friend. PCs liberated from Windoze: unknown, they've all been tried with Linux. So far, 7 mobos respond well. |
