I collect all manner of things computer-like and I've got something cool. I'll give you one hint.

SGI Indy R5000SC/150Mhz
128MB RAM
8bit Newport Graphics
No HD, no floptical, No OS :(
$50

It seems to work fine. Sadly none of the monitors I have will work on them, yet they all work on my many Sun Workstations. They all behave rather strangely, normally when something is out of range, the light will either turn amber or some will say "Sync Out of Range!" These will click like they have a signal and then nothing displays.
When I connected an old Sun monitor to it I got a little bit of video but it was out of sync. I connected a serial cable to the Indy and ran it to my laptop and it displayed a menu of options.

I read that you can break pin 10 off of the 13w3 adaptor that will let more monitors work on it but I am reluctant to this because I'm worried that my only sun adaptor will no longer work on my Suns.

The sound file above is the boot sound on it that means everything is well. So now I need to find Irix (hopefully the full set with the software) I've never owned an SGI before so this is just one more thing to add to my collection. Hopefully I'll get software and do some 3D on it :)

SWEET!!!! (i was wondering if it was a sgi...)

Man, i can't wait til i can afford one. Gotta get my 5300 working first. I know of a hotline server that you should check out for more info regarding irix:

bin.nodelock.net (no log/pass)

I haven't talked to anybody there so i don't know if they are friendly, but it should be a good place to start.

Let us know if you get good help there, cause i doubt i'll be getting a workstation with cds.

It looks like a very private community, but they say at the bottom of the news that downloads are available to owners of sgi hardware w/o cds which would be you. So I would try talking to an admin (in red) and tell him/her about your find. Chances are, they are just like us and will give you a log/pass and talk your ear off, but i don't know, never spoke with'em.

there has to be somebody to talk to there that will help you out in some way.

Cool, I just sent them an e-mail, hopefully I'll be able to get in. And eventually get a monitor that works on this. My SUN to VGA adaptor doesn't seem to like the SGI.
