Ok this is the deal, I bought a PB 140 but each time I turn it I get the 'question mark' at start up. I know how to fix the problem but I dont have access to a mac with a 3.5" floppy drive. But I have got it to boot once, I just dont know how I did it. Do you know of any key combo's I could use during start up?. Or Or how can I make a boot disk on a PC? I think I have a loose internal scsi connection. I made a boot disk on a friends PC, and now that I get it to boot there are no other drives on the scsi chain. I'm going to crack the case tomorrow. Now I'm even closer to 68k goodness.Editor of the printed word, Ministry of 68k Truths (mini6) ------------------ PowerCD, SE 4/40, Classic II 4/40, IIx 8/160, IIvi 8/260, Quadra 650 32/260, Mac Quadra 650 64/350 via basilisk II, iMac 333 160/6G How you like d'em apples?! |

Yep, that was the problem on my PB100, the SCSI ribbon came loose during shipping. Once I seated it the nachine booted right up.--- The problem with computers is they do exactly what you tell them to. Now where's that fuggin 'any' key? Good News!, it was'nt the ribbon or the HD. All the computer wanted was a 7.1 boot disk. The other boot disk that I had tried was a 7.5 and disktools didnt recognize anything. I throw in the 7.1 disk and the HD shows up immediatley. Right after that, I booted it off the HD, I'm now running it off a RAM disk. I have it asleep right now and you cant hear a thing. Why can't more Mac's be fanless?.My 68k Goodness is now portable. Good news and bad news. It turns out that the PB is a PB 170 in a 140 case, the bad news is that the PB hard drive didnt survive the trip home and is now complety useless. I've tried all my tricks and can't get it to work. So now it's just going to chill for a bit in it's retro goodness until I get another PB scsi drive. later, Editor of the printed word, Ministry of 68k Truths (mini6) ------------------ PowerCD, SE 4/40, Classic II 4/40, IIx 8/160, IIvi 8/260, Quadra 650 32/260, Mac Quadra 650 64/350 via basilisk II, iMac 333 160/6G How you like d'em apples?! |
