I've used Macs in the past, including assembly programming on the 68k, but have primarily used PCs at home since 1991. My place of work was giving away some old Macs and PCs, and I managed to get a Quadra 650 with 40 MB RAM and a 300 MB HD. As my first conquest, I'm sure I'll be playing and learning for a while before trying to upgrade it or put it to work. So far this forum has been very helpful in getting me up to speed on some of the many things I don't know about Macs. Thank you to all. |

'zactly. Even 32 or possibly 24 megs will do. Either way, congrats on your first liberation, and welcome to the 68kMLA. -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 6

yeah... :) I really like it when I know that I've saved a computer!!!! any computer... PC, mac, unix, SGI, Sun... (not that I have a nixie workstation, sgi or sun workstation )like... there was a 486 AST in my aunts house... in a closet being crushed... I really wish that I could have taken all of the stuff... but i couldn't... and I feel better because I saved it... I could've run NT on it... but I didnt get around to it and it's at the local computer "recycling center." I also HATE the feeling when I have to let a computer go to a place where I know it'll be mistreated... @ the RePC... there was a complete 630 machine with a nice monitor, keyboard and mouse... sitting in front of the donation door... I was SO tempted to take it and say "thanks" but my dad would've been mad and if the RePC people probably wouldn've let me... i checked and i don't remember any special "systems" to be included like the AV ;) but hey it's still a 040 mac that would've been great!
