I think I may be able to help... I just replaced the drive in my 5300 with a 2 GB and put the 500 MBer away in storage. I'll have a look through some well packed away boxes and get back to you ASAP.Kami

PB500's can only use SCSI drives - I'm guessing the Dell will be IDE. 68k ParaMedic

yeah, this is a 5300c, not 68k, i know, BUT!i might be needing a trackpad assembly which i think is also the same as the 190. Some how after putting it back together, the pb would screech out of the speaker and did nothing when i plugged it in, it started to smell so i took it apart to see what damage i caused. All i can tell is that the trackpad cable got fried, but somehow it's still working (yes, i plugged it in and tried it anyway). So if anybody has a this part, i might be interested in that as well. As far as the drives go, I think i got this one working, but i'm not too sure how good it's working and it's only 750 meg, so foetoid, i might be talking to you about the 2.5 gig drive. it's 3:30 in the morning here and i'm gone. later_______________________ Sgt. errrr... um.... i didnt realize you were talkin bout a PowerBook... I just assumed it was something from the all in one PowerMac line... if that's the case, I can't help ya... The 2.5 gigger is a standard 3.5inch drive.... I got a 160MB layin around SCSI but that's it.... sorry________________ foetoid, that's (fee-toy-duh) http://www.foetoid.doesntexist.com |

After you have this sorted out, if you have any 10/100 cards or 4gig HDs left, let me know, I may be interested in a straight out purchase.________________ foetoid, that's (fee-toy-duh) http://www.foetoid.doesntexist.com |

I have a 190CS that needs screen plastics., otherwise it worked good, but I did not re-assemble it after grabbing the screen housing for a 5300CS. I could trade you this, it had a 500mb hdd (mb 700mb, don't remember). E-mail me if you're interested. eft@the37.com

I've got a 5300cs with a bad motherboard (at least I think it's the motherboard...kind of hard to check, but death was complete and absolute...may be the power connector...it's been resoldered twice, and I'm not going to mess with it again.)It's nothing special, but I'd be willing to trade the drive (I think it's 750-800MB, not exactly huge by any standards, but I could be wrong, and now I can't start it up to check it) and/or the trackpad assembly, or, if you'd rather, the whole thing if you want lots of spare parts, or any assorted pieces. My preference is to trade the whole thing and get a handful of stuff...obviously the more I break it down the harder it will be to get anything useful for it. But its not doing me any good at the moment, either. It's got the spiffy video out/ethernet card, and I have the donglesque thing that goes with it, 16MB of RAM, floppy drive. Worked fine at time of its demise, but the battery was nearly useless. Power adaptor usually worked fine, but sometimes I think there was a bad connection somehow, and I had to jiggle it. Anyway, let me know if you're interested in any of this... You can e-mail me at philstewart24@yahoo

Ok, it sounds like i'm getting elakazal's 5300cs, so we can close this thread. I'm still latching on to the 10/100 cards, but i haven't worked in a while and i might be needing money or new toys, so keep your eyes out for another post soon._______________________ Sgt.
