Hey people. The archives are back. Now, a little intro on what server software I am using.

The new server uses Haxial KDX Server. The reason I chose this was because it's secure, encypted, fast and I can specify almost everything, including letting people upload. So here are the details:

The clients can be downloaded from:

http://www.haxial.com/download/KDXClient0941-Win.zip
http://www.haxial.com/download/KDXClient0941-Mac.sit

At this time there is no 68k version of this software.

Login Information:

Host: "girlspace.no-ip.org"
Username: "m68k"
Password: "tempest"

I already am running a server on KDX and so would simply like to extend it for users of the archive.

If you need help using KDX Client, visit www.haxial.com for more info.

Of course if you need help you can also post here.

Excellent server citon
is this download only, or will you be enabling it for uploads ?

I am adding an upload folder as we speak.

And I forgot to mention there is no chat on this server. It's because the chat is dedicated to something else at the moment.

There. Upload folder made. Just be sure to follow the directions as listed on the folders. (It says if you upload, upload things that are compressed and can be held without damage on a PC.)

As users give feedback on various files I will make a html file download on the server so people can get an accurate list of what is there.

Thanks.

OK.

I decided to setup another KDX Server just for chat!

"girlspace.no-ip.org:10750"

Just login with no username/pass basically just guest.

You can chat to your hearts content, and send Private Messages to other users and post in the news. :) Have fun!

I almost forgot to mention that KDX supports being connected to multiple servers at once so you can download and chat at the same time.

:)

And AUX and Mac OS 8 Toast images are now online. :)

Just a quick update I had one user who said that when he tried to connect, it said remote host refused connection.

This is really odd, so post here if that happens....because I know people are getting in, and I hope my ISP or other ISP's are lagging behind.

I have noticed a real lag in the quality of the internet relay system, many gateway timeouts and bad dns entries, so I'm wondering if ISP's and companies are not picking up the slack and giving quality of service.

Keep me updated and please post here or say a quick hi in the chat server if you get something u wanted. I'm not going to really ban leeches or anything like that, but it sorta does ruin the community effect when people just grab and disappear without saying anything. And to the folks who have supported the server so far, my thanks to you it's fun and i hope I can continue for a long time!

Oh, I don't want to say this in specific terms, but if anyone has archives of thier own, you can e-mail me at citonx600@telus.net and we can talk about further contributions...i always reward people. :)

New archives are up.

Thanks for the uploads everyone. New:

OpenStep 4
NextStep
Rhapsody
More Games
More Applications
A tonne of new files, just waiting to be sorted.

Please also if you know of any reviews on games or products please upload iether a text file with an url or the review itself so i can make a list.

If you are a 68K user and wish help to get some of the archives on your 68K, please e-mail me and I will make arrangements for you. (Since KDX does not have a 68K version, but most users who have a 68K also have a PPC machine that can run KDX.)

FYI, I downloaded VPC 1.2 to see if it would run any faster than the VPC 5 that I own, and it wouldn't install. I followed all the directions.

Virtual PC 1.2b actually is not compatible with OS 9 and up. I think 8.6 was the last it worked on.

I can't recall, I think Connectix has a report on thier website what OS was the last it worked on.

I will try and find out.

Connecting via corporate firewall with closed ports, maybe?

I am located in Vancouver, BC Canada so sorry not as close as you were hoping. :) sorry.

But I always am looking for new archives, I have arrangements in place (when i get money) to purchase archives and backups of my friend's server, so I don't mind swapping postal mail with bubble envelopes that have backups on them....if people are ok with that...

I had one nice user that in return for me allowing them to download Rhapsody I was sent a copy of both versions on CD. :) (I didn't have burner at the time)

:)

Just a quick note that I had the server down for some backups, it's done now.

I also added the domain: "m68k.no-ip.info", So that it's easier to remember. You can use iether address to connect....but I figured it deserved it's own name.

:)

I've dedicated the server to 68K Archives.

So you can use any name you want, you can chat, download, private message to your heart's content. You can even post in the news.

From time to time I will post in the news if I am planning to do a backup etc.

My webpage is http://ciricon.webicane.com/ and this is where I will be putting updates and hopefully a complete list.

If anyone can help e make a basic text/html list of everything I have then i'd be gratefull. I just don't have time to write down all 6000 of my files.... hehehehe...

Well the 68K section is only about 4000 files I think. Can't recall.

Anyways, have a look around, even if you are not downloading anything you can chat or just hang around. :)

What's up with the server?

I'm getting a "Host refused connection" message and this is through MSN with my firewall shut down.

Any help?

Nick
