I've got a cable with on one side the 8 pin serial connector and on the other side a 25 pin paralel/SCSI ? connector. What can i use this cable for, can i use it to connect a parelel port printer to my Mac ?

What you are describing sounds like a Macintosh serial cable for modems or serial printers.
