Partition your mac, and install 10.2 on one partition (no upgrade stuff).
Man does it run fast!!!!! also make like a 1.3 GB partition for Classic.

just a note, on beige g3s you have to have osx and os9 on the same partition.

The beige mobo is much faster than the 8600, but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! i had an easier time installing osx.2 on my 8600 with more unsupported hardware than you can shake a dimm at compared to my stock beige g3!

...stupid apple ....

Yes, I installed OS X.1 on an iMac like that, with only 64 MB of RAM, and it still fealt ok considering all the complaints that were being lodged.

I still have yet to get my beige G3 to even think that it might even wanna become friends with X.

hehehe. I'm sure most of you (especially cats) know of my incredibly silly troubles wif OSX.2... it ticked me off. I recently got it to boot off of the IDE bus... runs like a dream. 2D games dun run that bad ether, to my suprise. mow... if they could only make openGL drivers for the rage pro under 10, we would all be happy, until we all get GEforce 2-4 PCIs, or other good PCI card.. or like a voodoo or something along those lines. is there openGL drivers for voodoo cards?!?! phma. does anybody have an ATI radeon PCI mac they would like to part with?!

voodoo only supports glide (and not that well) opengl wasn't around when the voodoo cards came out for the mac and people talk at xlr8yourmac about it off and on, but nobody is will to take on writing opengl drivers for the voodoo cards when there is so much work for such a little market. As far as the rage pro card goes, i don't beleive that that chipset supports opengl either, but i could be wrong with that one. If you ever have any questions check out xlr8yourmac's forum, you can't register to post, but you can still read of course. Those guys know what's going on, not to mention i heard that an ati tech engineer posts there too. If i were you and can't spend much dinero, i'd look into a rage 128 card w/16 meg vram, that will be 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a radeon pci, or a radeon 7000 (which is NOT better than the orginal pci version.) Boredom, i know we've talked abou this before, but i thought i'd clear it up with anybody else reading the post.
