Hi ya'll guys, let me introduce myself first. I'm a 31 year old self-employed guy from Holland that's been living in the US (CO) for three years now. Until four years ago i only knew how to switch on a computer and now i'm building them and puts around with Linux etc.
I just got my hands on a Centris 610 and a Quadra 650 wich were both missing the harddrive, it came with two keyboards, one mouse, one 14" monitor, a external CD rom and a external 800K drive. I'm totaly new to Mac but found a lot of information on the web, in the mean time i'm waiting for two harddrives i got from ebay. My question is this: I downloaded a system 7.5.3 + the update 7.5.5 to my PC (Windoze), what program can i use to write the .bin files to floppy ?
I tried Rawrite but that doesn't work, any suggestions ?

You probably downloaded disk images, so if I were you, I'd copy all the images onto a ZIP disk, or burn them to a cd, and then mount them useing DiskCopy. from there, you can install (maybe). You'd need a startup disk...

If you need a Mac programme to make the .bin images into disks, use DiskCopy (which you get from www.apple.com ). You'll have to decompress them first with Aladdin's Stuffit Expander (get it at www.aladdinsys.com )

As for how to do it in Windows... Good luck. You'd need to buy MacDrive, in order to be able to use Mac disks at all, and the actual programmes to use after that I don't know.

Well, I do not have a zip drie or an cd burner so that won't work.
Guess i'll have to figure out something else.

Good luck...

Ethernet may be a good bet.

I found a program and was able to copy the images to the floppies (19)
Now can i boot up with floppy #1 to start installing system 7.5.3 ?
The harddrive is formatted using a mac.

Assuming that your floppies are OK (how DID you make them with a PC? It usually takes a working Mac to fix a broken one), when you boot from the first disk, there should be a utility on there that you can format the hard drives with. After that all you need to do is start the Installer, then feed your Mac floppies for the next half hour or so :)

I used a program called TransMac i found on download.com
Worked perfect, now i have to wait for my harddrives to arrive.
I'll let you know if the installation worked.
