Need help FAST with an iMac!

Marchie Chaplain USA 911 Posts	Posted - 21 Nov 2002 : 15:57:53 A friend of mine bought a Grape iMac from me. I transferred all sorts of stuff onto it via a crossover cable connected to my iBook. BUT, using a known good cable, I can't connect it to the Eastern Michigan University ethernet network, and get it online. It doesn't negotiate a DHCP setup. The same symptoms appeared on a LAN set up in my girlfriends apartment, which was useing a Linksys router. I beleived the Ethernet port to be bad, so I swapped out the mobo with one off another iMac I had here at the house. STILL doesn't work! What's going on? These SAME symptoms appeared in OS 9 and mOS X. Is there a USB->Ethernet adapter that works with Macs I might be able to use? ~Chaplain Marchie Admin of The WonderLAN ~~"We are all Mad here"~~

My daughter had a similar problem with a RoadRunner cable modem; turning the modem on and off solved it. Do you have Appletalk set to Ethernet?
