The U of T Swap Shop has come through for me yet again!

Today, I liberated from there:

  • a Power Mac 6100/60, with the AV card - scoooore! I've needed an AV card for my 6100 for a while!

  • a Quadra 840AV with a 1.2 GB HD - not too shabby

  • an LC 475 - this one is interesting, because it has an auto-inject floppy drive. I've never seen a 475 with auto-inject floppy.

I also got a Multiple Scan 15AV, which seems to be in really good shape. I still want to try it out on 1024x768 and see how it looks...

Total cost: $60 CDN for the whole load. Unfortunately, I now have to go out and get a bunch of PRAM batteries... *sigh*

(I still need more 32-MB RAM sticks like nothing funny! And I need to get rid of a bunch of the less interesting ones - I can't use twenty-some-odd Macs at once!)

*laughs*

Indeed so - I've been wanting one of those for ages! The trouble is, I'm still not sure where I'm going to put the thing... I have even more limited space now than I did before!

The other thing is that I don't actually get the 840AV until Tuesday afternoon. I own it now, but I wasn't able to take it home because I couldn't carry the whole load at once.

I'm doing 1024x768 on the Multiple Scan 15av in Linux right now, and it works great. Very clear picture.

Nice find. All I saw were a bunch of PS/2s. [;(]

This must be the week of great 840AV deals. I just picked up a great condition unit from a PC consignment store - no stickers or scratches on the case.

The 840 came with a 33.6 external modem, 13 inch high res monitor, keyboard, mouse, maxed RAM and a 250 MB and 2 GB hard drive.

The part that always amazes me is looking back in old Macworld or MacUser mags for the pricing on these computers when they were new. Ouch! I'm just glad that I now have the chance to use one these awesome computers

Look about 3 years earlier at the IIfx prices.

I know, I know. Unbelievable!

In Canada the IIfx was close to $15,000 when it had the 230 MB hard drive and 8 MB of RAM (top of the line model).

That was the golden age for Apple resellers. Can you imagine the commission cheque that some sales people would have had selling just *one* of those computers
