Disk Copy is used to mount and work with .img disk images.
You can find it pretty much anywhere...

StuffIt Expander: http://www.aladdinsys.com/downloads/files/aladdin_exp55.hqx will mount disk images (.img files)

Btw is it possible to mount .img fail if the resource fork is missing? (I have download a .img file with Hotline Client in PC and it doesn't save resource fork , or is there a patch so it would save resource fork to another file ?)

Warning: All .img files are not created equally. There are two different types of .img files.

The first type is more common on the web, and that is Apple DiskCopy images. To open them, you need DiscCopy (any version) or Mac OS X.

The other type is much more prevelent in the Hotline Community, which utilizes Aladain ShrinkWrap image format. If you get an error opening a .img file using DiscCopy, try using Stuffit Expander, and it should work.

Thanks for the help, guys, BUT..when I try to run it [Disk Copy 6.3.3] or drag and drop something on to it, an error about not being able to update the disk image driver comes up.

Maybe you missed the good Captain's post... try Stuffit Expander, particularly if they're from a Hotline server.

Oh no, I am already aware of Stuffit's ability to open most of them. Sorry i forgot to mention this. But what is this nonsense about updating disk drivers?

I've had many a corrupted image in my time, at least it had always seemed that way. There have been downloads that took hours and hours that just wouldn't open, no matter what app I used. Anyone share my frustrating experiences?

Classic OS is very picky when it comes to *.img files with damaged or lost resource fork. The following usually worked for me:

1) Open the files on on a computer running Mac OS X
2) Don't try to mount the files but burn them right away on a cd using Toast 4.x. This even works on Basilisk (68k Emulator).

Now, how would I go about burning directly from Basilisk? that would be a nice thing to do!

4.2 will only recognize .image files and it will only make disks outta them use disk copy 6.

lol, I thought this was about .img files, an .img file is alo a graphic file format used on Atari ST but you'll find it supported on Mac & PC, if you have an ximg file(it will have the extension .img) dont convert it as it contains colour information & people who program pc programs(not sure about mac) didn't allways realise you can have colour .img files, but you can & they're very good quality.
