I've been using Netscape 4.73 since getting Verizon DSL and I just got off the line with tech support and they now support 6!

Woohoo! Maybe I'll have a real browser . . . FINALLY!

When I upgrade, will all my emails and bookmarks really be imported into the new version?

Is there any way to back up email stored in NN 4.73? When I got DSL, verizon didn't support any other email on the mac except the messenger within NN 4.73.

. . . actually, they didn't even support 9.1 when I first got my G4 and DSL . . .

Isn't progress wonderful?

If you're using OS X, 6 runs in "classic" mode.

I'm a lunatic luddite, I'm running 9.1 and I'm back to 4.7 after trying 6.2 already! plenty of misc. bugs to iron out and no time to do it, FEH!

I'm not all that thrilled with Aqua, NN 6.2 doesn't look too bad with the clasic theme enabled, but it's significantly slower than 4.7.

Yeah it's just a shame Netscape 4.7 sucks when it comes to web standards. It's a total PITA designing a website and have people asking for a special version so that they can view it in NS 4.x At one of my last jobs we got more complaints about the lack of NS 4.x support than anything else. Despite the fact that after looking at the site statistics it appeared that fewer than 1% of viewers were even using NS 4.x they just happened to be the most vocal.

Yeah, I'm using it now! I don't notice any big browsing difference, but I have been getting even better download speeds. So far the highest I've seen was a burst of 442 KBps and a stable 360 KBps after that.

I tried Netscape 6 and found it buggy. I've been using Netscape 7 under OS 9.2 for several months now and it's been nice. Fast loading, no bugs, no crashes, no micro$oft.

RoadRunner, through the SoCal Time Warner Digital Cable network. Back on my 7500 in OS 9.1, the best I ever saw was about 150 KBps. I think it could be the Gigabit ethernet, or more likely that OS 10.x is just infinitely better at networking than OS 9.x and below will ever be.

From what i hear Unix was built for the internet. Classic MacOS was originally developed without the internet and added to later. This dosen't seem very likely, but who knows!
