Check out the gold-leaf on this monstrosity. The guy spent $2,300 to have it done...and they we humans are intelligent! Ha!

That the brassiest looking piece of crap I've ever seen . . . must be the lighting! :rolleyes: I need to get more jobs like that in the shop! Somebody made a mint off that idiot, but then again . . . maybe 24k leaf is expensive, I've never actually seen (or heard of) such a thing. The finest German Leaf I've ever used was only 23k! ROFLMAO!

You'd think whoever did that gilding could have thrown in some engine turning or accents with white gold or some variegated leaf or . . . SOMETHING to relieve the monotony on those flat surfaces!

. . . maybe that woulda cost extra!

Sure, it's a cheap LCD at this point . . . there's nothing wron with it some steel wool and a can of black spray paint wouldn't fix.

Man, looking at that LCD makes me sad... who would spend that much time+money just to run Windows on it! Really, it's like paying Yo Yo Ma to come sweep off your porch.

Speaking of spray-paint, the thing looks like it was done that way as it is. Maybe it's just artifacts of the gold-leafing process or a bad leafing job, but either way it looks just plain BAD.

I'll admit that i know nothing about leaf, but could this be just a paint job. Honestly if i were to invest 2300 in something, regardless of how idiotic it was (cover my display in gold) i would want to get my money out of it, not take a $2000 hit.

btw, what's the bling bling factor on this thing? (dude, that rhymes! maybe i should be a rapper)

I agree this is probally just a paint job, or a good photohop job. Anyways, if I bought it i'd just take off the gold and sell it! i''d be worth more then 300$ anyways. And i'd have a nice LCD monitor when the gold is off.

Nope, it looks like it's definitely gilded with "somethingorother-leaf" and it even appears to be a fairly well done job for all that it's butt-ugly as a final product. The biggest problem is that it must have some kind of really aweful clear-coat on it. A monitor is about the only thing I can think of that'd be less silly to gild than a keyboard or mouse!

if I was going to do ANYTHING to a flatscreen display, I'd have it done SILVER to go with a quicksilver G4 because....

a) it matches
b) it's cheaper
c) silver looks better to me...
d) did I mention it's cheaper?

and if only the newton had survived... imagine how far it would have gotten... color screen... 1/3" thick... it'd be like the handheld computhingies they have on the new star trek... oh well. wishing and wondering is all I'll be doing, because newton is dead at apple, but alive and well in the public... let's hope it stays that way.

if I wanted something that could only do 1024 by 768... I'd keep using my imac... it's nicer looking, I already have it, an it's a mac!

I would HATE to have a gold monitor like that... the only thing I'd use that monitor for... is a kicking target... and I wouldn't pay $300 for a kicking target
