I'm looking for 9 or 10 inch LCD displays, that will do 640x480, and preferably have a VGA input.

Why? For that iMac in a 68k case project! If I can find an appropriate screen, I'm throwing it in an SE case... It'll be an iMac SE that I can put in my Carrying case!

Flip this one into portrait mode so it'll fit and be better for WP and browsing:

and run it sideways with this when you're relaxing away from home:

I'm kinda interested in the Playstation LCD screens myself. I have heard that the Sony branded ones take an RGB input from the playstation. One caveat is that it runs at an NTSC scan rate rather than the standard 60Hz that computers use by default. But if you are handy with a soldering iron, you could probably build a scan converter to drop the frequency. Or if you are handy with drivers, hack them to do it. I know this is possible on the PC. There was a program "CabMame" that lets you run the Mame arcade emulator directly to an arcade cabinet RGB monitor by twiddling with the VGA registers on the card. I have an old STB Velocity 128 card that will do this by default if it doesn't detect a monitor.

don't use a playstation LCD or any other LCD designed for television. The resolutions are farking horrible, you'll quickly acquire the need for glasses if you use a scan convertor, the refresh rates make horrible monitor flicker. in short, shell out the xtra buxx for a proper computer LCD (VGA)

good luck

OMG OMG!!!! that's expensive!!! although... I did see something cool... the idea of putting one of those PCI controllers into a 9500 or 8500... maybe even 86/9600 and having that as a built in self powered monitor... (with teh 8x00, hook up your playstation and play on the bigger LCD ;)) and... yeah... i forgot...

but it'd be soo cool to have a PM8600 with a built in monitor!
