Well.. I've posted here and in the MacAddict forums from my 2100...

as far as colour goes, the pics are in greyscale...

some really funky pages with lots of embedded tables and such look a bit weird.

I've traversed the BBC and h2g2.com pages on the newt...

I've used telnet, Jabber... I've downloaded ZIPed files and extracted what I wanted...

A Newton is far more capable online than most PDAs are. FAR more so than Palms. I have a couple bookmarks in NewtsCape for pages that link to PDA friendly sites tho, like the simplified pages fro the BBC and MapQuest and Google.

My experience is that as long as i don't load pictures I get the text quick enough. BUT.... keep in mind that the layout is not what IE or Chimera (a kickass browser for you osx people out there) is going to look like, but you get the info in the end. I've been VERY happy with my 2000, I just purchased a wavelan card and I use it on wireless networks at a friend's house to play with and it works very well. The images that i do download are acceptable. hmm...as far as email goes, I also stick to simplemail, it's small simple and integrated well in to the osx.

Also something that the newton can do on the internet is SERVE WEBPAGES!!! YES!! your newton can host html! There's a link somewhere around. I've used it and it works. Not too well for me, but i think that's becuase I have a 2000 instead of the 2100 (which is what ALL real newton users have. ) but anyway, it works and it's cool to say, "yeah, my webpage is hosted on a pda." Tell THAT to your peecee friends!

In the past week or so I've unearthed my newton and I've been using it religiously. I tried out newtsync. The newton helper for isync. For what's been done so far, it's AWESOME! The ata support is almost finished. the wireless driver is working. All I really want for newton is some decent games and a tcp/ip network browser so I can find wireless networks at school.

In all reality the newton IS a handheld computer not a PDA. There is a difference and until they die off due to physical usage, support will never stop for these things.

Sorry about the long post, i'm exhasted and the newton is too cool to just speak of lightly.
