I've never owned a PB, so forgive my ignorance in this realm. It doesn't quite seem possible, but I thought I'd raise this idea that occurred to me. It may have been discussed before, too, but here it is. The 190 and 5300 have a lot in common, at least from the outside (I suppose the mobos differ in more than their processors, but maybe it's not a huge problem). Is there any way to yank the screen from a 5300 and swap it with the nice but limited 256 color display of the 190? Is the limitation on the 190 in the screen itself, the vram, or both? I don't suppose there's any way at all to add vram...?

Can't say what kind of color depth you'll get, but AFAIK the 190 and 5300 screens are interchangeable, along with many of their other parts. In fact, I think one could stick a 5300 mobo in a 190 and everything would work.

But don't take my word for it w/o verifying it elsewhere.
