 Serial to Mac connection

Here's the deal...I liberated a Quadra 700 and 800. Along with the score came a Proxima Data display. It's the kind that fits over a standard overhead projector. I'm almost sure it was used with a Mac but the only connection is a 9 pin connector that looks to be a serial port. Now my two questions, could this be a video connector and if so how to I connect it to a Mac? PLEASE HELP!

It could be a RGB input in a 9 pin D, in which case you could make/buy an adaptor. On the other hand it could be something else - got a model number on that proxima?

You could also try to find a rare NuBus 9 pin video card...

Could be for CGA/EGA cards (old pc stuff) or the old NEC 9-pin MultiSync style connectors.
