Yup, that'd be a PPC upgraded PowerBook 500 series.

I think that That's a Duo 2300c, because the 2400 was black and had a different style trackpad...

might be a PPC upgraded PB500... but i would think that that one is natively PPC becauseof the logo

But ML5 tells me it's an upgraded PB500... so i guess that it is

Our comrade-in-arms Flash! has one of these rare beasties in captivity. Maybe he can compare his live specimen with the image and give us an opinion.

Cheers!

Yup, that's a PB500PPC the same as my mine. It's one of my favourite Macs (right after the LC475!) I bought it in pieces and was able to fix it up with a little help from an also broken 520c - now it's in immaculate condition and I love it. Maxed out at 40MB RAM too

PB520 = 25MHz bus, 68030, 4MB onboard RAM
PB540 = 33MHz bus, 68LC040, 4MB onboard RAM
PB550 = 33MHz bus, 68040, 4MB onboard RAM
(I've never actually seen a 550 -they must be rare as the proverbial)
PB500PPC = 33MHz bus, PowerPC 603e @100MHz and 8MB onboard RAM.

cheers

I forgot to mention... you can tell if it's an upgrade or a natural PPC by checking how much onboad RAM it has, as it is a slightly different motherboard holding the 8MB of RAM (and if it's got a 25MHz bus then it's definitely an upgraded PB520)

cheers...again

Bus speed on the 500 series is determined by the CPU daughtercard, and as such, a PPC upgraded 520 will have a bus speed of 33 MHz.
