The duo is up for sale, with the understanding that I cant get rid of it till I have the working 840av with me.

Powerbook duo 280c
1 gig hrd drive, I think.
12 meg ram.

works well except for having to type "firmly"

Some oold apple mnuals & stickers, Perform 400 "road apple" era.
Make me n offer.

Mac os 8.0 & 8.1 upgrade.

I have a cable, 8 pin mini din to 25 way 'D' plug.

I thought this cable would connect my qudraa to my modem, I triedit, it physically fits, but didn't work.

Also, why not just get a later rev of the duo keyboard and more ram. the 280c is a great book.

It died, well it wont start up, no chimes, though power does go to drives. Just b4 it died, the screen got red & green shadows. This leads me to believe that itis the rom that is corrupt, cos when I used to swap rom chips on my st's, if I putthem in upside down or if they were dead then I got a similr effect.

I cant afford my new 840av , and so the sale of my powerbook duo280c is intended to finance the new 840av.

I wnted a powermac 8100/110 that was on ebay, but price wentoutof my reach. I m on the hunt for a powermac 8110/110av.

If I have two aaui ethernet macs what cabe would I use to connect them?

I am off now to follow trash's link

You'll need to AAUI to RJ45 transivers (others possible but not recommended) and an ethernet crossover cable. If you get these things on eBay the total cost would probably be around 20 UKP. I have some spare but there is no way I can get to them, I'm in Australia they are in the UK! however I wouldn't be surprised if someone else on the boards has them kicking around, they're pretty small so international postage would not be much. May you should start another thread. WTB AAUI transivers x2

I believe I have at least one of the aaui transcievers that you might be looking for, perhaps more. If those are the ethernet dongle thingies (highighly technical term) that were needed for early PPC's, like 7100's and 8600's.
I'd be happy to sell mine (If you are interested I'll search and see if I have more than one)
