I just wrote a really long post about my quest for an 840av, <whining loudly> and IE crashed! </whining> That's a good html tag - I hope the next round of browsers support it...Seriously, though, I'm steamed. Now and again I get a little terse with my 660av because it doesn't quite have the capacity to run the best versions of everything, and this is what happens when you used IE 3! If I had that 840av I could be using a version 4 browser... It's ok, though. We've kissed and made up. I thank my lucky stars that I'm not on some *hack, cough* 030. There are plenty of great things to do with a pre-quadra, but man, the internet is not one of them, IMHO. So, how about all of you guys mosey on over to the trading post and strike me a deal for that extra 840 power supply and motherboard cable...I know you all have one. I'd take one for an 800, too, but that just isn't as fun. An 840av is my holy grail, as I described in my ill-fated post. Yeah, so, let's get trading...I need that power supply. { candyPunk } { Captain of Observation, 68k MLA } { Macs liberated: 6 } { My baby: Q660av } |

Why can't your 660av run version 4 and an 840av can? They both have a 68040 processor. Does that 15 MHz speed increase really make a difference? Perhaps I'm missing something... FireWire is fast General, 4 star Forum moderator 68k Macintosh Liberation Army |

It's slow as hell. I'd think that at 40 mhz it would be reasonable, don't you? At least as good as vers 3 at 25 mhz. I hope.{ candyPunk } { Captain of Observation, 68k MLA } { Macs liberated: 6 } { My baby: Q660av } |

I used v3 on my 33 MHz Quadra 650 and its just fine. I'm sure it'll be ok on a 25 MHz (as long as its not an LC040, which yours isn't)FireWire is fast General, 4 star Forum moderator 68k Macintosh Liberation Army |

No, see, I know that version 3 is OK at 25 mhz. That's what i use. I was saying that at 40 mhz version 4 might be usable.{ candyPunk } { Captain of Observation, 68k MLA } { Macs liberated: 6 } { My baby: Q660av } |

Just because your 650 runs at 33 mhz doesn't mean you need to insult the power of other peoples' computers. My 660 and I are going to go and have fun without you, thank-you-very-much{ candyPunk } { Captain of Observation, 68k MLA } { Macs liberated: 6 } { My baby: Q660av } |
