7.1 Pro and Ram disk, or just plain 7.5.5?

I'm getting a lowend powerbook 140. I've downloaded system 7.1 Pro, 7.5.5 and 7.6.1. The PB's specs are 68030@16mhz, 8mb ram, 150 HD.

What should I do?,
1) 7.1 pro off a ram disk. (I was thinking that a decent install would be small enough to fit on a ram disk and leave me enough ram to run programs)
2) 7.1 Pro off the HD
3) 7.5.5 off the HD
4) 7.6.1 off the HD

Be as descriptive as you want, I'm new to the world of portable computing. Also should I have some kind of star under my username?

Have a slimmed down OS on call for use with the RAM disk for when you feel like a road warrior, and have a decent OS for when you're not far from the grid.

The choice is up to you as far as OS version goes, especially on a '030. Do you need the features of 7.5/7.6, or do you prefer the speediness of 7.1?

I have a PowerBook 145B (same as your machine, but with a 25 Mhz '030) which is set up similarly to your system, and i've had very good experiences with System 7.5.5 on there. I'd stay away from putting System 7.1 on a RAM disk and booting from that though...in the end you won't be left with much free RAM. Avoid 7.6.1, too. On 8 meg systems 7.6.1 is a bit of a RAM hog.

I'd suggest 7.1 on the PB. I have a 145b also, and 7.1 runs nicely on it. With the slow 030 and lack of RAM, 7.5.5 and 7.6.1 will feel slow.
