From the descriptions of this movie I was all set to despise it because I'm a bit of a Clancy fan. I was very pleasantly surprised however, once I let go of the fact that it had almost nothing to do with the book, it was really no worse than any other Hollywood movie. The director's take on the need to reinvent the franchise to open up the rest of the books for Ben Affleck's long term participation made a lot of sense. Even Clancy, in his own inimitable way, seemed happier with this film than the others. If he is/was writing another book specifically for Ben, and laughing about how they ignored his book in the rewrite of the screenplay after the Harrison Ford project fell apart, I think that the series might have had some new life breathed into it. I'd still like to see somebody do a good film from the actual book tho. jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. AC-130H SpecOps 68kMLAAF |

I read the book whilst on my summer travels (my first Clancy book), and I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed it. Now that the film (which I've not yet seen) is out on DVD, I've tried to rent it 3 (or was it 4...?) times from the local BluckBoster, and it's always all checked out... grrrrr.... Anyway, it'll be interesting to compare the two, once I get to see the film. Later, SpaceBoyOfficial MLA Raconteur AppleBASIC FOREVER!
