I'm giving up. I've downloaded several "toast images" of OS 8 and OS 8.1 and they are useless to me as I don't have a mac with a recorder to burn them and can't get NERO to make a CD from them that is readable/bootable.I know it is possible to make a ".iso" (I quote because it is not a real ISO) of a Mac cd. I've done it before at work. We needed a copy of OS 9 for use in troubleshooting something where I used to work. So I borrowed an OS 9 CD from someone. Read it in using Adaptec EasyCD 3.0 saved it as OS9.ISO, saved it to the server and had a friend at work that had a burner copy it to his computer and burn it with EasyCD 3.0 The disk worked just fine. So does anyone have a PC burnable image of 8 or 8.1 anywhere? Useless 6360av/ TV 16/1.2/8.6 :( SE 1/20/6.0.8 :) Q840av - DEAD :`( Q650 256/230/7.6 Woot! if you want to have a for sure burnable version, have someone make a clonecd image, and then you use clonecd to burn it on your PC. I got a copy of 8.0 off one of the hotline servers that was in .img format, renamed it from .img to .iso, and burnt it in nero. It booted my 7300 just fine

Still didn't work. I even use the command line CDRecord utility and it didn't make a usable CD. If I pop it into a Mac running 8.1 it tells me the disk needs to be initialized. If I try to read it using HFVexplorer for PC it sees the CD name as MacOS 8.1 and then tells me there are corrupt B-trees.Useless 6360av 16/1.2/8.6 :( SE 1/20/6.0.8 :) Q840av - DEAD :`( Q650 256/230/7.6 Woot!
