I have a question that hopefully y'all can answer. I have a Newton 130 and an iBook. I would like to know if there is any program for OS X that would let me connect my Newton to my iBook to Sync and load programs to the Newton. I would also like to know the best way to connect my Newton to the iBook. Thanks for all of your help.-Michael Macs Liberated: Mac classic II-1st Mac :) Quadra 630 Mac LC |

Sure we can answer it! 1) With a 130 you are a bit limited in connection ability compared to the 2x00 series. Unfortunately the 130 can't do ethernet (which would be best) so I believe you're stuck with trying to use a serial-to-USB adapter. 2) If I understand you right I think this is should be it. To sync with OS X there is a piece of software in developemnt called "nsync". It is in Public Preview status and can be checked out at http://www.everchanging.com/newton/. Also check out the newton FAQ here:http://www.chuma.org/newton/faq/newton-faq-nos.html#IIIB3 And this answer page:http://newted.dyndns.org/users/1f2frfbf/answers.html Good luck!! |

There is ONE Ethernet card that works with the 130. You can find out which in the FAQ above.other than that, you arelimited to a Serial interface. the Keyspan adapters seem to work the best.. the belkin adapters have mixed reviews. NewtSync will do what you want. ~Marchie ~Chaplain Marchie Admin of The WonderLAN ~~"We are all Mad here"~~ |
