want some? I got a catalog today that has motorola processors ranging from 68000 to some of the latest PPC processors. What doesn't make sense though is that the later PPC processors cost less than the 500 dollar 68LC060. Check out www.digikey.com for stuff too!

odd. though the 68k Procs were CISC and the PPC chips were RISC, so that may have something to do with it

WTF, $500 for an LC040?
what the hell are they smoking?????

I saw on motorola.com the $300 price tag for an MC68040, that I thought was for thousandlots, but I guess that I was wrong.'

$150 plus for a 680x0 processor! I definitely want what they're smoking!

tell ya what though, I recently tried to sell full 040 processors - and even tried to give them away and no one wanted them! don't bother asking me now - I finally got rid of them, but it took 3 months to find homes for half a dozen chips *sigh*

Yours weren't certified brand new and you didn't have any vertical market or government customers looking to you as a source for CPU's to use in maintaining critical systems did you?

New stock procs at Moto are only going to go up in value, not down.

I always thought they were all RISC. Isn't that what makes them faster than a 486 of the same clock speed?

No, the 68k chips were all CISC, and the PPC chips are all RISC. That's why all the PPC machines are faster than a Pentium of the same speed.

BTW, I'm posting this with Lynx under YDL 2.3 on the 6400. Tell me how it looks!

We would have never guessed! Hey, have you ever tried links? (http://links.browser.org) It is another text mode browser, but it also supports tables and frames.
