I just liberated a Duo 230 and Duo Dock. The price was right: FREE!

It's got 8 MB memory and an 80 MB hard disk.I would like to upgrade the hard disk to something larger, possibly a 230 MB. Do I need a special type of hard drive? Or would SCSI/IDE work?

Also, my keyboard works sporadically. The keys are all very mushy and don't always respond. The keyboard is very "flexy" and doesn't look even. I'm confused as to what's wrong.

Thanks in advance,

For a Duo 230, you need 2.5" SCSI hard drives. Normal 3.5" drives won't fit. You can use 2.5" ATA drives with I think a logicboard upgrade (to 2300) and cable swap.

The keyboard on my Duo 230 has the same problem. I think it is a design flaw, which was corrected in later keyboards. I don't know if there is anything you can do about it...

I think it was the .jp "room of duo" (?) site that has piccies of another fix, there may be a link in the LinksProj or not, but I don't have time to run it down either way.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm typing this response on the Duo's internal 14.4 Express Modem! How cool (and slow) is that?

The later revs of the Duo keyboard are better - I have an E 'board and it is slightly easier to type on than the C 'board that had been put in my 2300. The keyboards are pretty flexy and there really isn't much you can do about it. I usuall plug a keyboard into a microdock and get to it

I came across this web site that documents how to "unstick" the keys - I haven't tried any of these methods so I can't vouch for their effectiveness
