As some of you already know, i did a hack to my LC475 which involves sticking the hard drives into a PC case which rests on top of my LC case. Check it out at: hackintosh0.tripod.com

However, the specs and pics are old. The specs are now:

LC475 mobo
20 megs of ram
80 meg hd

Everything else is the same.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the purpose of his hack?

for stopping me from wasting money, space and power points on external drives when i can save all those three things by having internal drives. That was the whole idea.

Hmm, link didn't work, but ok. I take it that the idea was to use a scsi ribbon to connect all the drives to the internal bus and use the power supply of the PC to power the drives with only one plug in the wall? Cool idea. In fact....hell, I could have done that instead of buying scsi cables and casings. See, I just set up this performa w/ a 601 as an mp3 player. Man, that would have saved me some cash. I've got an old broken PC my grandma let me take!

That's similar to what I'm doing.

I have an old PC tower (Packard Bell) that I've gutted.

It will have in it 2 CD-ROMs (a 24x, 4x) and 2 SCSI hard drives minimum.

It actually connects via external cables, so I can switch which system these are connected to. If I get REALLY ambitious, I might cut the case open on top, and embed the top loading NEC 1x CD drive in the top of the case. Dad's debating whether he want's to keep that CD as the one on his SE, or if he wants to take the hacksaw to the SE case, and put in an internal CD.

I just noticed something, the PC on top has a IEC socket, so why not plug in the PC to the wall and the LC from the PC?

Anyway, I'm doing an LCIII hack tomorrow, it's Code 'Blackpowder'.

The PC power supply is only 65 watts. I would blow it.
