The file is called Autologin. You can delete it, or just open it and delete its contents (which should consist only of the word "root").The file is in /mac/sys/login system folder/ -- or something like that. Wait...A/UX logs you in as root by default?! That's like what Linblows does! Wonko The Sane Engineer-in-training 3 Macs Liberated "You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool."- Wonko The Sane

methinks that it logs on automatically logs on as root to make sure that layman computer users are not confused by the login screen [::)] CCCLieutennant Commander (Pronounced Leftennant) 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, a Quadra 650, and a Quadra 660AV Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, and a PM 8600/300 Apple //s rescued: Apple //e |

Imagine how confused the layman user would get when he can't run A/UX after he unwittingly destroys vital system files, or someone else does when his box gets rooted, or how slow his computer gets after he accidentally installs a bunch of worms. Logging in as root by default is just a bad security practice! Maybe I should try OpenBSD instead.Wonko The Sane Engineer-in-training 3 Macs Liberated "You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool."- Wonko The Sane |

as I have said, it is disableable, just do a search for autologin, open it in textedit, and delete the word root.
