Mum told me tonight after i emailed 'sadhu that she said i can't accept his offer, if he still has the PSU. So now it looks like my last resort is an ATX hack. I've got the pinouts off xlr8yourmac.com, and i have all the parts i need from dead mobos, but the thing is though, my soldering sucks. Should i do it? I really want my 8100 working!

Probably a better option anyway ML5... I tested my PSU the other day, and its still a dead duck even after replacing the blown (and highly expensive I might add) ceramic fuse. Guess something else got zapped at the same time...

Cheers!

Ah well. At least it'll give me a chance to improve my soldering skills.

If you're just splicing wires, get some teensy-tiny wire nuts and forgo soldering entirely!

Ah, cool. I see now. See what these late nights and good movies (Blues Brothers) do to me? Looks like a good concept though...how much do these things cost?

I don't have any typing skills!

Wire nuts are CHEEEEEEEEP! Use electrical tape onnem after twisting them on properly. Make sure the wires are heavy enough to use them effectively tho. The splicing shown in that one artilce I found looked like it'd be hard to screw up with the WORST possible soldering technique. (like mine! )

Crimp connectors would work well too, but wire nuts feel like they make a better connection to me, dunno why, it's probably not true from an electrical standpoint, dunno.
