Ok, today i tried out a vnc client/server for my servers and such and it's quite amazing. It's so small, yet so helpful. It's multi platform and caused hardly no conflicts. plus it's open sourced and FREE!! I found at&t's page referring to developement, but the didn't mention a server for 68k. Anybody know of one.
VNC is a remote control system similar to timbuktu.

Btw, here's something i did today that i thought was totally awesome.

I have 2 displays on my beige g4 running osx. I installed the vnc server on my 2 ppcs (servers of various flavor) and vncviewer (found it on versiontracker) so i connected with one other mac and displayed that on full screen on my second display and so then i could span between 2 seperate macs!!!! Ok, i thought that was just the coolest. It was really simple and extrememly helpful.

I'm going to get a 68k or 2 back online and this would just be a life saver.

Unfortunately there isn't a server for 68k... just the viewer... It kinda sucks.

There is a server for 68k: chromivncserver. I tested it today on a Performa 630, but it was really slow. I'll try some finetuning next.

Virtual Network Computing

a way of reomote control over the network (commonly TCP/IP or Appletalk)

A Pseudo VNC client/server package on the Winblows side is Symantic PCAnywhere. The Mac side, you have a utility called Network Assistant.

Did you all know that there is a VNC client and server for the newton, what a tool for network sysadmins, plug your newton in and control people's computers from wherever they are, or on the go, with the wavelan card. google around for NewtVNC and see if you can find it. My MP2k is sans newtwork card, so I cannot do any VNCing. I need a newtwork Card

And the necessary patches needed for 68K machines are here:
http://wrench.et.ic.ac.uk/adrian/software/vnc/

This site is down often.

I've been using a VNC Windows client to connect to my LC630 and a 50 MHz SE/30 for a month now. It is slow, especially on the SE/30, but it's usable. I've set the VNC server to do no compression, (transmit raw) so as to relieve the CPU. That seems to work best.

Yeah, that patches site is down. Would someone be kind enough to either send me the patches or mirror them until the site comes back up? I would very much like to give this a shot since I use VNC for my many other machines.

I just happen to have two versions of the patch, alpha 3 and alpha 5 adaptive. I stuck 'em up on my webserver, which has decent uptime.
