Ok, sorta related to the other thread. I'm pretty sure the OS 8.1 image from the hotline server is toast format. I burned it to CD using nero in both "raw" and "hfs" format neither would work in the mac. Using HFVexplorer, it could see the name of the CD but if you clicked on it, there would be an error about a corrupted b-tree.

When burning using nero, it warned me about the "entered block size does not correspond to the image length" even though it defaulted to 2048 bytes.

There's got to be an easier way to do this..

To help you.The new HFS format ( optimised PPC ) isn't optimised for the old mac.The format is different.the driver is different.
And the extensive format 8.1 on a CD not run on an old mac with a system 7.x.

It's the war....Go to Top of Page

Hmm. Well I booted off a Norton CD (old one) that had 8.1 on it, then copied the system folder to my hd and rebooted and it wouldn't read the 8.1 cd, but it would read other mac cds just fine.

Still thinking I'm just doing something incorrectly.
