NO! AppleSpec now only supports products from November 1997 to the present! Now i'll NEVER know what versions of Mac OS my performa 578 will support

Don't forget gamba!

AppleSpec is riddled with errors, I posted some good info in a ClarisWorks file that I finally found too, dunno if OS support is included offhand, but it has info like portrait support that's entirely missing from AppleSpec.

I like apple-history a lot.... very detailed and even a product description! new items seem to take a long while to be added, but all the older computers are right there with loads of info right there. everymac.com has good info too.

Hell yeah. I remember when i first got my 8100 (rest in peace...), i consulted it to find out how much RAM the 8100 had. AppleSpec told me that the 8100 had 16 megs of onboard RAM. I take all the RAM out, and i ended up with a PM8100 with 8 megs of RAM.

i found an app that has the entire datebase in searchable form... its pretty cool but very tedious because it includes the post-1997 stuff as well and i'm not very fond of the interface... but i found the info i was looking for (versions of the OS supported by my performa 578) so I'm happy.

Uh, yeah. Isn't that link right at the bottom of the normal applespec page?

quote:

AppleSpec is riddled with errors,

I had a rev D iMac. For the longest time, I didn't buy ram for it because applespec listed the maximum capacity at 128 megs (it still says that). Then I noticed that it also said that it supported 128 meg dimms. I got confused, looked around, and realized that it could take up to 256 megs. It also said that it couldn't run OS 9 practically until X came out. I couldn't think why the hell that would be true, so I installed it anyway, and of course it worked. Thanks, applespec, for your untiring efforts to provide true and useful info. On the other hand, it does give handy bit-depth configurations and a useful tidbit in the "notes" section now and then.
