OK, quick question:

I've got a PowerBook 540c. Until I managed to get my hands on an industrial surface mount soldering machine or a 550c daugtherboard, it's stuck with a LC040.

Are there any BSD-based *nixes that I can install on the thing?

http://www.macbsd.com/macbsd/LC040-and-BSD.html

It seems that work is underway to get NetBSD-m68k to work on LC040 Macs, but currently it doesn't (one can only boot into single-user mode). Ditto for OpenBSD, according to the OpenBSD web site.

Both Open and Net will likely be due for kernel updates in the next few months, so maybe things will change then.
