I scored big time today. A local high school computer department head, desperate to get rid of old Mac inventory, provided me with:Mac II Mac IIci Mac Classic II Centris 650 Quadra 650 16 x SE/30 ADB keyboards, mouses, a monitor Total price $0 The SE/30's all have ethernet cards and 8/80. There's some interesting software on the box Macs, and the Centris has a SuperMac Video Spigot. I barely made a dent in his inventory. There are about 50 more SE/30's and a bunch of monitors, box Macs and tons of other stuff this guy wants to dump. I'm in the process of checking this stuff out. So far, everything works. SE30's have no screen burn but the cases have inventory stickers on them. Looks like I'll be busy for a while.

See if they have any Suns, NeXTs, or SGIs. Care to share the wealth a bit?? I've been looking for a couple cheap ethernet cards for my 2 SE/30s. I'd gladly pay a few bucks plus shipping if you'd be willing to part with 2 of them :)Drop me an e-mail. -Chad

It would probably be most efficient if I could arrange for a group to meet the guy and collect the stuff all in one day. That way, he needs to only schedule one visit once. (He needs to arrange access through the shipping doors, have time on his class schedule, etc.)How many would be up for that?

Giving information to deliver Macs into the hands of commercial MacChopShop operators whose only real concern is profits would fall somewhere OUTSIDE the bounds of acceptable liberation and conquests, and should be frowned upon, IMHO.Do I remember you saying you were in that line? jt ™. I don't know why you would care if he got some, most of you sell some of your macs, and he only sells them for $10.

Simply because many finds have conditions attached them. Sometimes the conditions are explicit. Sometimes the conditions are implicit. Either way we have to respect them or our sources for inexpensive machines will dry up, since many people would rather toss them than feel taken. Sure, a lot of us end up selling or trading machines. Things happen. We may acquire too many computers, have completed the intended project, or simply loose interest in certain machines. But that is always down the road and never our primary interest in obtaining the computer. II2II Intelligence officer in training.
