i just upgraded the ram in my SE. i took out all the old simms, which were all 256k. i put in 4 new ones, which are supposed to be 1 meg each. i noticed a little jumper, that seemed to have two positions. 1 for 1 meg, and the other for 2/4 megs.so i moved it to the second one. i just booted it up and it says it has 2 megs, instead of the 4 i expected. am i doing anything wrong here? -- Performa 630 LCIII SE

nevermind, i found the solution. apparently you have to remove the jumper for it to be able to access the entire 4 megs...i also read not to use 2 or 3 chip simms, only 8 or 9 chip simms... well, two that i pulled out were 2 chip ones, and 2 that i put in are 3 chip ones (that's what i got in my order...) will this have any negative effects? -- Performa 630 LCIII SE |

If it's working the way it is, just keep the case closed, add the SE to your prayers each night, and make an occasional sacrifice to the gods of SCSI Voodoo.~Marchie ~Chaplain Marchie Admin of The WonderLAN ~~"We are all Mad here"~~ |
