It look like a PhoneNET dongle. It is manufatured by Apple. The only distinctive sign it bear is an embossed Apple logo; there is no sticker with serial or model number. One end is a LocalTalk male DIN8 connector. The other is a small box with two connector ressembling female LocalTalk except that there is only three pin instead of height. Two photos there: http://www.photoaccess.com/share/gSlideShow.jsp?imgIndex=1&jrunsessionid=1035336510031281654&cb=PA&svr=web3&ID=AF78C5350E7 http://www.photoaccess.com/share/gSlideShow.jsp?imgIndex=2&jrunsessionid=1035336510031281654&cb=PA&svr=web3&ID=AF78C5350E7 Thanks for your help ! :wq |

That, my friend, is the original version of LocalTalk that Fallaron based PhoneNet on. It doesnt require termination, or anythong else like that, it looks prettier, and is made by apple. that is all that I know about it. I had one, and I recently acquired a sealed copy of the manuals for it, which I am hesitant to open. I will try to scan them if I find one that has been opened. Interesting stuff ... I suppose it require special cabling. I have never seen the DIN3 cable that it would require.:wq |

I have a whole bunch of those, with wiring. The old problem with them is that they disconnect easily if you put too much stress on the line. PhoneNet connectors don't have this problem.------------------ Captain Z - Mobile Operations Commander 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 23 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff |
