Ive read over this subject many times, basically it boils down into microsoft has a say in waht you can, and cannot do on you computer. Sounds like a fun time to be a PC user!

P.S.- This also means they could eventually keep *nix Distros from running on these machines once fuly implementer, but that is a couple years off.

Weeeeel, it looks like MS is going balls-to-the-wall to remove any other options for a PC operating system, and eliminating privacy at the same time. I reckon that the government will invoke the antitrust act again if MS REALLY decides to monopolize the PC platform.

In all, Paladium smells like a reeking pile of tech support hell. Oh well, give me a brand spanking new pc, but put palladium on it and I'll go back to my 512KE.

the problem is... they will try and put it in
-ALL-
electronics!

macs, PCs, microwaves, cars, watches, those cards that play "happy birthday" when you open them...

everything.

that would be dumb.
"this gas must be certified by microsoft for your microsoft car to work, or you will crash often!"
or
"only use microsoft TV dinners with your microwave, or it will explode!"

we hope this will not happen... hey. I just relized something... that guy blathering on the big screen in that "1984" commercial looks a lot like bill gates... something to ponder.

Very interesting link indeed. Click on the author's link (Ross Anderson) to see what else this very productive guy is up to.

BTW, judging from this 'FAQ' essay, Palladium goes far beyond Microsoft--they would be the prime beneficiary, but by no means the only one. I wonder what Apple's position is on all this.
