So i finally resurected my old SE/30. this was one of my first liberations, and it was sitting in my parents basement for a few years. I pulled a PRAM battery from a P475, scrubbed the RAM SIMMS with a pencil eraser, and it booted to 7.0.1

After screwing around with it, i managed to get it to AppleTalk via Printer port to my 7600/200, and got it to install 7.5.3 for whatever reason, it won't boot, though. and it won't boot from Apple's 7.5 Network disk. The floppy seems OK, since i *can* get it to boot a 7.6 Disk Tools disk.

I can't zap the PRAM, or re-bless the system folder, though. What am i doing wrong? I'm not a toal newbie, but i just seem to be missing a step.

the box in question is an SE/30 w/8 megs of ram, and a 50 meg HD. it also has an Asante 10BT ethernet card. In a seperate issue, the car lights up and the hub lights up, but i can't get it to connect.

and finally, what version of FileMaker Pro can i run on 7.5.x?

Thanks in advance,
Milo

Hello.

You can't "zap" the PRAM on all system 7.5 , it's the problem of 7.5.When you zap , you make a big damage in the system folder.I suppose that it's a trojan virus.

An idea to boot your mac, get some enablers system at " Apple.com ".

The 7.6 tools disk is a good idea.( but with enablers ).

What is a pencil eraser ? an Eprom eraser ?

the pink thing on the back end of a pencil...

It's good for cleaning SIMM contacts.

What you wanna use FileMaker for? I'd build my own database in Hypercard... it's actually easier to share the database over the network that way. that's how I'm programming my Library Stack, which is being released as Beerware.

I think it means that if you use it, you have to send him some beer.
