Just curious if anyone has or has seen a collection of death chimes in wav / mp3 / au / aiff format anywhere?

It is just something amusing for me I guess but, sounds cool.

I don't know if this will work for you, but on versiontracker.com's MacOSX section, there's a program called MacTracker, which has hardware/software info on just about every Apple product ever, including all the startup chimes for each model. Not sure about the chimes of death, though.....

I can maybe record the tones of death of my 68k macs. No ram typically does it, also hitting the programmer (?? or is the other) button right after to start it up can do it. I can get the glass crash sound on my beige g3 with the wrong kind of ram in it. Removing the rom in equiped macs can also do it. I'm sure everybody knows all this, i'm just rambling for the sake of rambling.

Yes! That was exactly what I was looking for. I liked the death chimes but no one really wanted to let me do something to their mac in order to make the sound.

This was the one that I was looking for:

Oh man, I forgot about the "Symphonic" startup sound. I remember about 7 years or so ago the first time I saw it on a mac at Computer City, it was connected to an altec lansing sub woofer with satellite speakers and I just kept ctrl-appl-reseting the computer to hear it over and over. (Maybe I'm easily amused) Fortuneately no one minded me doing this on the brand new 3500$ computer.

I'm beginning to think my 840av was just a lost cause. They still have a bunch of IIsi, IVx, LC/LCII and a mangled Q-950 for $10. My dogs freak out every time I boot my SE, don't really know why.

Well, I've always admired the Macs but have never really been able to afford them until now. I thought the 6360 was cool but last time I priced ram for it I decided against buying more. The quadras though are right in my price range :)

Some day... I'll have a G-Something mac and be able to run X

As for the posts, yeah I'm the resident Dell guru, and for some reason I became the Mac guy at my last few jobs, simply because no one EVER wanted to touch them.

Useless 6360 16/1.2/8.6 :(
SE 1/20/6.0.8 :)
Q840av 20/0/DOA :(
