Macintosh Lc series Power Pack
Item # 2061979282Well my external cdr has stopped working & I suspect the power supply to be at fault. I saw the above item & it looked similar to the power supply in the cdr, but on closer inspection it isn't what I need? I guess I can use my pc's old power supply. This means getting on with new housing. Having external cdr could be good for me so that I can swap it between the quadra & the Performa. shaktiman Quadra 840av, 128MB ram, 2MB vram, cd drive(caddy),1 caddy!:-)
1.2 gig drive, 4.23 gig drive

Yes, definitely. The LC power pack you saw on Ebay (I'm assuming it was this one?) is essentially the same as any in a pizza-box style Mac. It looks exactly the same as the one in my LC 475, only mine has black instead of beige plastic where the power switch and socket are. This could work for an external CD-R, but since the connector is different, you'd have to either do some splicing or rewiring or both. Save yourself the trouble and buy a new, empty SCSI case that will fit at least one 5.25" drive and has a known, working PSU. They're a lot easier to find then what may prove to be an impossible-to-source part for your existing case. 666th poster and 666th thread-creator

if you want an LC Power Supply, buy one from shreve systems, they've got them for US$0.50 each, mac II Power supplies as well :P
