It is very depressing.

I even managed to get it to work, well now it only works in black & white??? & it wont fileshare or network.

It should have accepted os 7.6 but refuse with it installed.

I now intend to purchase os 7.6 on floppy & fingers crossed that will work, or I could buy a hard drive with os 7.6 on it.

The SAF is down

Firtsly, about it being in B&W, are you sure that the PRAM battery is good? Sometimes a PRAM battery on its way out can cause a pizzabox series Mac to start up in Black and White. Secondly, about System 7.6, are you sure that you have enough RAM to run it? Forgive my ignorance, but i've seen soo many LCIIs lately i forgot how much RAM yours has!

The pram battery has allways been good & I have no reason to doubt it, Performa went funny after I messed with its os.

Well everymac.com informs me that os 7.6 will run, but LEM claims 7.5.5 to be the highest.

I have to believe LEM.

I only have 4 meg[:-(]

I'm looking for 2 30 pin 4 meg simms, but they seem to be thin on the ground.

System 7.6 will work, but very slowly. I'd reccommend no more than 7.5.5 for the ol' gal. You don't need to upgrade the RAM just to get 7.6 to boot, but without the extra RAM, it won't be very useful under 7.6.
