I went to turn it on, and it did nothing. I assumed it was a bad psu, but the one from my 800 did the same thing. I found lots of corrosion on tracings near the power connector on the mobo, and cleaning that off had no effect. I took the mobo and psu into my room for further inspection, but the pram battery fell out without me noticing it.... I cobbled the mobo, psu, and keyboard up on my desk, hit the power key, and it fired-without that pram battery. I found and tested the battery, which is new, and the voltage reading was 3.57 volts. As long as the battery is in, it will not start up.

Try a different mouse, keyboard and ADB cord?
It never hurts to isolate a problem.

I got it booting now, but without a pram battery. It doesn't matter which battery I put in it, it just plain won't start (doesn't even click the psu)

that's what I thought...

Maybe I should have used calvin more often, so he wouldn't have become depressed to the point of drug use. What a waste....

Now I need to take him to detox, or get him a brain transplant

definatly on crack...

I'd say there is definate logic board damage... something in the power/memory system is NOT right...

My suggestion is this: Don't turn it off!

Customer: whenever I do this, it crashes!
Tech: Not a problem, just don't do that, then.

Solution: IFF inoperative in off mode

Problem: Evidence of hydraulic leak on port strut
Solution: Evidence Removed.

Problem: The Autopilot dosen't
Solution: IT DOES NOW

anyway, tell it to quit doing lines off of the toilet seat. Wean it to chatting with Billy Bhong Thorton, or Westley Pipes.

try giving the logic board a bath, that sometimes helps.
take off all of the cards and connectors and everything else that is attached to the board, and then rinse it with hot water, then rinse it with distilled water to keep mineral deposits from forming, it sometimes works, and it will not hurt.

There are already mineral "deposits" and corroded tracings, due to contact with gases released from nasty well water. A bath would just make it worse by exposing clean metal to the hydrogen suflide gas.

It is running fine now, but i'm afraid to shut it off...
