I have posted the current and two running logos as done by Penguin and myself on a page for viewing. If anyone else wants to design a logo and add to the race, contact me!

Not that I don't like or appreciate your efforts guys, but how about putting the original logo onto the ballot too? It has my vote, the color versions are either a little too distracting or or a little too fuzzy, the sharp clean monochrome logo suited a military theme better, IMHO.

Well sure, I'd put it on there...but I don't have it!

I'll check the 68k MLA FTP server to see if Coxy buried it in there somewhere...

I do like Cinemo's, but mainly for the fact it looks like it's influenced by Pink Floyd.

The current one has a sense of style that is clearly Apple.

Without the old one up for comparison though, I'm going to have to go with Penguins. It's unique with an Apple twist. It is the closest to the theme that Trash mentioned, (Black & White do give that sterile feeling of the military). I also think it's the least one likely for legal difficulties if Apple ever did become an a$$ and pull copyright law on us. All it needs is a "68k" in front.

Lastly, they're all cool and should be winners! Thanks for the efforts guys.

Call me boring, but I vote for how they are now- I don't know exactly why, but the 'new' color-stripe logo just works for me.

I didn't really like the old one. Sure, it looked nice and stylish and everything, but it just screamed "G4!", mainly because of the monochrome Apple. The new one is good though. Looks very 68kish.

personally i like cine's a whole lot, the icons and everything too (although a tid bit smaller) although what we have now has a more professional look. i like the color, so my vote goes to whatever the goal of the site is if it's:

professionsal - current
for us and fun - cine's

teehee, I didn't know people were actually gonna look at my stuff. I was just bored one nite and made stuff. Heh, didn't realize until now that there is no 68k *hits head*. Oh well, it was just for fun on my half

~The Gracious Penguin

P.S.- I would vote for the current ones, except they look "fuzzy" to me, the apples need a stronger border IMO

Truthfully, I thought we originally had stark icons/logos so as to keep the web site size down for those that were actually surfing on 68k's.

If not, then I like FWIF's the best.

I've browsed the Forums on my 840av and it truly made no difference whether the logos were B&W or color, either way they didn't top out ar more about 9k and loaded fairly quickly.

I personally think we should stick with a color logo just to keep it in the theme of Apple's younger era.

Nice one,'sadhu! I think the name needs to be spelled out tho. That cammie-apple would look great with the current logo's type done in the Dark gray in your pattern and the Forums type in the lighter gray or olive! (maybe in: Stencil-> FORUMS but not that green!)

well, I'm for Bigsadhu's logo! I love that camoflage. It'll fit in really well especially if we change the background colors to be olive green and grey, IMHO.

The origional logo was good cos it was like an "army stamp"

what the logo needs IMHO is:-

an army aspect

a 68k aspect

an army stamp aspect

to avoid being tied with apple(the company),

the last point we may ask y. here is y:-

Apple no longer officially support any 68k macs that I know of.

We are not apple, we want to preserve 68kmacs & apple dosn't

copyright may crop up at some point.

I just have little interest in "apple" the company.

Bigsadhu has my top vote

cinemafia is a close second

alcoa has it right, I think. Bigsadhu's camo apple is JUST RIGHT for an army, but the EXISTING TYPE (on one line) would work better and is reminiscent of Apple's own font. Use the Stencil font for FORUMS, or whatever subhead you want (IN, OUT, etc.). How about trying it this way?

Cinemafia, separating the type from the bite in the apple tears the logo apart.

I agree with Coxy. We should keep the Apple logo, and, personally, I think it should forever remain "rainbowized". It would be confusing and counter-productive to the morale of the army to remove the Apple logo completely.

According to my tally, FireWire's (the current one) is winning with 4 votes. Bigsadhu's comes in a close second with three, and the other three (mine, the old one, and Penguin's) all trail behind with one vote each. We'll see what happens come Friday at 12:00PM Eastern US time, that's when I'll lock this thread and determine the final choice. Cats, if you're planning to enter the running, you better hurry! I'm not going to add any new entries after tomorrow!

Then I'll forward the tweak I did on 'sadhu's entry, he sent me the layered file and said to have at it, cuz he'd be gone a few days.

I don't do 'shop, so I'll send you the .gif I emailed him. If I can figure out how to tweak it in Illustrator, I'll try to get my other tweak suggestion for it to you also.

Well, here's my entry. I hope it's not too late, because i really think it looks good.

I really liked the original logo, but i thought it needed a little more color, and didnt really get the 'military' theme across. So i combined it w/ bigsadhu's logo. Here you go:

http://www.spymac.com/gallery/data/500/3189camoforums.gif

ohh, i just realised that the 'stem' has a hole in the outline.I'll fix that if you really wan to use it.

Here's another one i made. People said that we should stick with the striped apple logo, but i really liked the camo logo. So here's a nother one. I tinted the camo logo i made so it would be a striped apple logo. I hope you like it.

Again, this is just a quick one i made, and if you want to use it, i will clean it up.

I liked it enough that I knocked out a straight version of the CammieAppleLogo in the deepest tones from FW's PastelAppleLogo on the takeoff I'd sent in on B's logo that's similar to the one you've posted. I don't think outlines will work on a weblogo of this size, but I like your work.

btw: somewhere on my currently defunct iDisk is the 68kCammieApple sosumi did that I was using as my avatar on fritter. We need to post it too, I really like the one she did, has anybody got the link to her site?
