So the trackball went all wonky on my new little beauty. I just bought a new Trackball assembly on eBay. What are the steps I need to undertake to open-her up? Are there some secret covers I need remove? Should I ask one of the Masons? Do I need to recite "Klaatu barada nikto" while doing it?

The problem with computers is they do exactly what you tell them to. Now where's that fuggin 'any' key?

Links Project - click the dot in my sig, you can't miss the entry!

Service Manual links ought to be on gamba, which should be in the links on the MLA site and I really need to add to the links project . . . *slaps forehead!* . . . considering how often I send people there!

good luck!

I have a paper manual that shows a pictorial break-down of how to get in and out of the 280c/2300c. I should scna them and post them to the barrack's FTP. Unless, JT, you have the same thing linked already?

The service manual is your best bet, but it's not all that hard. You really just need to remove the four screws on the bottom, the keyboard (held in by 3 of the screws) and the left and right clutch covers. The trick is taking off the top without breaking the tabs.

That said... what are you doing with the old trackball assembly? Any chance you'd consider parting with the retaining ring? (I need a spare.)

If my new assembly comes with a retaining ring its yours. My duo didn't come with a manual. Which clutch covers are you talking about? Is there any technique to removing the top without breaking the tabs?

The service manual is a pdf file and can be downloaded from the 68kmla hotline server (or it's mirror).
