Is there an HDI-30 to 10base-T adapter, or do I need an HDI-30 to DB-25 cable (pretty standard), a m/f direction changer, and then a DB-25 to 10base-T adapter? Please tell me the first exists

Yeah, Asante made an HDI-30 to 10Base-T model. It had a rather limited market, so it's probably pretty darned rare, though.

I've got a couple of the DB-25 models, and they work without a m/f changer. (Remember, all SCSI DB-25 cables are male. All SCSI DB-25 connectors are female.)

The DB-25 end of the HDI-30 to DB-25 cable would be male, so I wouldn't be able to attach the DB-25 to 10base-T adapter without a direction changer. Both DB-25 connections are male. Unless...are there HDI-30 to DB-25 cables that have a female DB-25 port? The only I have seen have male ports to hook right into the device

Yes, and in this case, the Ethernet adapter is the 'device', so it's female. (On all of 'em I've seen, anyway.) Of course, I was also thinking you had an HDI-30 adapter, not cable. I have an adapter that goes HDI-30 to DB-25 female, so you can use a normal DB-25 male to male cable. (Of course, I also have an HDI-30 to DB-25 male cable, which is I guess what you have.)

So, in short, the male cable end should plug in to the female Ethernet adapter.

Well, I've found the name of the asante products(plural!) for this job, and they're actually pretty available on eBay...yay!
