There's an ad in the Recycler (California classified paper) for an SE/30...but not just any SE/30. The ad states..."Mac SE/30 with video card. 81 MB RAM. All in one computer. 21'' Display" All this for $80!!! I wish I had the cash...maybe he'll take a trade? I better give the guy a call. 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 My Site: http://cine.sytes.net My Hotline Server: 840av.sytes.net

Exactly like gdogkzo said, go check it out. Part of me wonders though if the guy has something else with a 68030 processor in it or something. Or maybe it's a hack job with the mobo and other alterations in a different box? It's the ram thing that makes me wonder the most, since the mobo only takes 8 - 32 pin simm slots for a total of 32mbs of ram."One slip and down the hole we fall" Check out the new forum on the block at: http://www22.brinkster.com/originalstryder/db/ |

Actually, it can take 128MB of RAM. I have no clue how you could get 81MB, though. Four 4MB and four 16MB SIMMs would make 80, though. (Yes, once upon a time, they made 16MB 30-pin SIMMs. They are very rare, though.) Proud Liberator of over 25 Macintoshes! |

Yep, an SE/30 can be maxed out at 128MB of RAM. And, 16MB 30pin SIMMs aren't that rare...there's guy on eBay who has several hundred of them, and sells four at a time for $20, shipping included. I bought four from him for my IIci, and I need four more to max it out. What interests me more than the RAM is the video card and the 21" monitor...that could be a Micron Xceed card (I could only wish) or at least it's gotta be something cool to be driving a 21" monitor! 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 My Site: http://cine.sytes.net My Hotline Server: 840av.sytes.net

Wow... I didn't know they were so cheap! I'd been looking for some for a long time so I could make my SE/30 into a decent BSD box. I'll have to pick some up now... And yeah, the vid card is the most interesting. I would kill for an Xceed card with grayscale adapter... (Well, I'd kill a small, obnoxious animal like a gopher anyway.) Then I just need to do the hack so both the vid card and ethernet card fit at the same time... Proud Liberator of over 25 Macintoshes! |

It's not the Xceed card, but if you're not using the Mac OS (its Mac support maxes out at 7.1.2) check out the support for the Rascerops Clearvue GS30. They're $10 on clearance at Shreve. There's a compatibility chart on Gamba, IIRC. I think I saw some kind of nixie support for them when I was googling. I ordered two and a pile of other stuff.jt ™.
