YES!!!!!!!! AT LAST!!!!!!!In case you're wondering whats going on, i am typing this from my LC630! At last, i have one of my 68ks on the internet. I've been waiting for this since grade 7 (about 4 years ago), and at 0915 Saturday 15th of December 2001, it happened. And i love it. My config is: LC630CD 33Mhz 680LC40 (this baby runs like a dream without the FPU, thankyouverymuch) 36 megs of ram 250 meg hd (soon to be 6 gig) 4x internal AppleCD 600i 10BaseT Ethernet LC PDS card Video system GV Teleport Gold II Geoport modem Mac OS 8.1 Netscape Navigator 4 Performance wise, its pretty nice. The 14.4 kbps modem is a bit slow, but its just cool to have a 68k on the net. Soo cool!!! I got my 630 on the net. Boy, this thing is just getting cooler and cooler! But whatever, its just so great to finally be posting to a 68k forum using a 68k. And not just any 68k, but a liberated 68k! I must admit though, as Netscape successfully connected to 68kMLA Forums, i actually kissed the LC630! And it didn't take much, either. I entered in my ISP details, and it wouldn't dial for some reason. Then i told it to ignore the dial tone, it successufully dialed, and in about half a minute i was out of the control panels, into Netscape, and on the internet! Now try that on an evil Ipex PC... I also admit that surfing the net on this thing is sort of like driving a really nice classic car...one that drives really well. Even Hotmail works! Wow... I guess I just don't have the patience to run a 14.4 on a 68k and try to do things with it. Or rather, my parents don't... They'd be upset with me taking up the phone too much.

It actually treats my 630 quite nicely. However, that $%#@%@ TDK ad on the side really isn't ideal for users who have a screen fixed at 640x480. Apple's website takes forever to load, though. But other than that, this is quite nice. As a matter of fact, it sort of feels as fast as or even faster than my PowerBook 1400 which has a 33.6 bps PC card modem. --------------------------

What res does the 2 page run at? Because if its anything other than 640x480, 800x600 or 832x624, it ain't gonna work. Those are the only resolutions supported by the 630 series Macs. --------------------------

the two-page monochrome display runs at 1152x870. Not bad for 1989. yeah, the 630 has limited support for those nifty vintage monitors like the two-page monochrome and the portrait displays (ie they won't work at all) FireWire is fast General, 4 star Forum moderator 68k Macintosh Liberation Army |
