Hi all!

Mouse here. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Well, I just liberated my first 68k Mac! A Poor abused Centris 610.

Found it in the neighbors trash, complete with 14 inch color monitor!

Took the poor thing in to my home, wiped it down, powered it up and prayed ;)

She took her first breath and those ever so beautiful startup chimes could be heard!

Not a bad little system. Still has the LC/040 chip (Soon to be full fledged 040), 24 MB RAM, 1.0 GB HD and System 7.6.5.

After tinkering a bit, I installed an old SCSI 4X CD ROM and installed OS 8.1.

As soon as I find a cheap AAUI adapter...He is going on the home network.

Now Gizmo (Hey...I liked the name) sits next to my good ole PM 7200 /120. (Hope she doesn't get jealous).

Ok.....I've frothed at the mouth too much.

Later!

Whats so weird about Mac OS 8.1? That was a good version of the Mac OS, and is GREAT on LC '040s if you have enough RAM. It runs like a dream on my 20 meg LC475. Either way, its great to hear you got that 610 up and running.

I've used every system from 6.0.4 to 8.1 even the wierd Performa versions and they all have quirks. My favorite thus far is 8.1 which is on my 6400. Before that I was 7.5.5 on my 636CD I didn't like how 8.1 bogged it down.

Macs Liberated: 9 - 6400/180 (main Mac), 660AV, 636CD, LCIII+, LCII (2), Classic II, Classic and SE.
