so i want to connect my external SCSI cdrom to my SE running 6.0.5.... i have the apple cd-rom extension. i specifically want to play audio cds through the cd drives output to a stereo system, and apple cd audio player runs but when i put a cd in the system steps in and says its not a mac disk and spits it out....

should i update to 7?

System 7 is nice, if you have the RAM, of course. If you still have the stock 1 megabyte, forget about it.

The Apple CD extensions only with with System 7.1 and higher. You might want to try a third-party driver from the mac driver Museum
